A strategy for getting organised this weekend
Bearing in mind the importance of this week as we grow nearer to the scheduled wind-up of KSF IoM, it is vital that we use this weekend to get organized.
In a poll asking ‘Do we need a spokesperson/small group of spokespeople’ the overwhelming response was ‘Yes’, however we continue to have an informal arrangement of 5 or 6 individuals who are forced to seek lengthy approval for whatever they propose. This is not a luxury we can afford – we need to get organized so that we can work proactively, keep track of who is doing what, and respond immediately to events as they occur.
I suggest the following:
Immediately: a call for nominations for the management team of the action group. These nominations should be in by 12:00 GMT.
Today: a poll to be set up on the home page of the website to gather votes for the nominees. Voters should be allowed to vote for up to 5 nominees. A deadline must be set for this process, for instance 15:00 GMT today. Anyone who is nominated and does not wish to be part of the management team must indicate this to the website administrators (NG) and their name will be removed. Once we have completed this poll we will have a core group of people who know that they have the support of everyone involved and are therefore in a position to act quickly.
Today (Saturday 18) and tomorrow (Sunday 19): all depositors using this site (and I’m guessing that the vast majority of depositors have found this site by now) should register with their ‘geo groups’. Within these geo groups a representative should be chosen (or should volunteer). This representative can collate all actions that have taken place that day in his/her region and pass them to the management team. He/she can also initiate discussions and provide feedback to the management team as time differences across the world make it difficult to hold such discussions synchronously.
From the end of today: a daily update on progress from the management group (this is already happening but can be a more powerful medium for communication). This will include a brief summary of what is going on within the geo groups. It can also include links to all media coverage/communications from official sources, and a list of actions taken/proposed by the management group.
One last thing – we must clear the site of all old postings and put them in an archive. We are effectively ‘entering the battle field’ this coming week and we all need to be able to access information immediately it appears.
Please provide any feedback on this proposed strategy. Apologies if I am repeating what others have said.
Action Group
I am in the process of putting a 'management team' together as we speak. This will no longer be an informal arrangement as the website will have dedicated people linking it with what the managment team is doing. I appreciate your call for nominations and elections and in an ideal world this would be best. Unfortunately we have procrastinated on this too long so now we're 'just going to do it'.
I don't believe we need a representative from each Geo Group as our interests are not aligned with region but with 'situation'. To that effect all people's situations will be represented, including 'in situ depositors', 'in flight depositors' and non-individual depositors (ie. small companies, bond holders, partnerships etc...)
I am more than happy to take suggestions as to who wishes to contribute to the management team but I feel the time for elactions has past.
Action Group
Let's also make sure the representation of all KSF IoM depositors regardless of their citizenship/current residence.
Clear the decks
Well said AJM UAE - you make some very valid points. I particularly agree with your point about archiving the old postings. Come Monday, I imagine the press will be all over this (hopefully - providing no other celebrity decides to get divorced over the weekend!) and they're not going to want to plough through thousands of postings to find the one or two hard hitting (new) stories they will be looking for.
