A matter that may be of some interest to depositors
I think the following may be of interest to some contrbutors and readers.
The Association of Licensed Banks
is an IoM association whose consititution

includes the following words:
"To further the development and preserve the good reputation of the Isle of Man as an international banking and financial centre."
Amongst its most senior members

it boasts one Aidan Doherty of Singer and Friedlander (IOM) Limited as its Deputy President.
Could this person be any relation to Aidan Doherty, Managing Director of Kaupthing, Singer and Friedlander (IOM) Limited, who before the collapse appears to have been a rock of reassurance to depositors, yet since last Tuesday appears to have been extraordinarily hard for depositors to contact at his place of work?

Yes, you are quite right. Since posting that I have noticed that the contacts details on the site in question have mysteriously disappeared. Could it be that someone found this embarrassing? I wonder who that could have been?

All, there is nothing mysterious or embarrassing, and this is no more than the simple fact that the association's website was out of date. As with all such bodies, representation changes from time to time, and several of those mentioned above are no longer council members of the association.
A new website has been planned for some time, and will be launched shortly, but in the meantime contact can be made through the secretary, whose details are provided on the website.

Seems like parts of the IOM have something in common with Reykavic. They both have a lingering fishy smell.
